2 Peter 1

2 Peter 1:1-10
1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ,

To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours:

2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.

10 Therefore, my brothers and sisters,[a] make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Once we know the presence of God in our lives, we suddenly do not feel so restless trying to live life it our ways. Knowing the grace and goodness of God brings peace to me as I now know that I do not need to strive to live it according to my ways but according to His ways. He gives me everything in abundance and made everything just perfect for me.

He has also given to me His great and precious promises. All these can be known by reading His words. The bible tells me everything I need to know. It does not necessary tell me everything I want to know but it definitely tells me what God thinks I need to know. I might not understand all the times and I might still ask for the things of my heart, but God knows best. His ways and thoughts are higher than mine. So who I am to argue with Him, right? It is important to read the word as it reveals to us God’s mighty plans in our lives. It brings you through bad days knowing that God is still with us no matter what happens and deliver us from temptations as Jesus Himself was tempted when He was here in the form of man. God will never tempt us but He knows that we can go through every temptation we face.

With the goodness of God, we cannot complain about anything. We ought to read His words daily and be refresh daily so that we will never be blind again forgetting that He has cleansed us from our past sins.
